Q&A
Q.What is the unique feature of this Solar POE Switch?
A.

Compared to a regular industrial PoE switch, this solar PoE switch has a built-in DC12V to DC48V voltage booster so it can be powered by any power source between DC12V and DC48V, for example, DC12V from solar power system, DC12V from vehicle battery, DC24V from commercial buildings, etc.

Q.What kind of PoE devcies it can work with?
A.

It provides PoE power to all of the standard IEEE802.3af/at PoE devices, like IP security cameras, VoIP phones, PoE wireless AP, etc.

Q.Does it come with a Power adapter?
A.

No power adapter is included. You can use it with a regular DC12V or DC24V power adapter, or industrial DC12V power supply unit.

Q.Can it work in a harsh environment?
A.

Yes, sure, that is what this PoE device designed for.

Q.How does the redundant power input work?
A.

This PoE switch can be powered by two channels of DC power inputs. If there is one power input fails, another power input will ensure non-stop operation of this PoE switch.

Q.What is the draw current when connecting to DC 12V power?
A.

If the PoE switch is not connected to a device, the current is 1.25A. If devices are connected, the maximum current depends on the power consumption of the connected devices, with a maximum of 7.5A.

Q.What is the line pair of the switch?
A.

Insert positive 1 and 2, and negative 3 and 6.

Q.Does it work with non-PoE devices?
A.

Yes, sure. Each PoE port supports PoE automatic detection. When connecting to a non-POE device, it provide data transmission only, and will not output power to prevent burn or damage.

Q.Will this POE Switch work with a 24v POE Devices?
A.

No, the POE Switch supports standard IEEE802.3af/at 48V POE Power. It does not support 24V Passive POE. Please contact us to get POE 48V to PoE 24V adapter.

Great for keeping PoE equipment running during power outages.

This switch is great if you want to keep your PoE IP cameras and/or Mesh WiFi network working for several hours during power outages without bulky, expensive, inefficient or difficult to place AC UPS.

I am powering this switch with two series DIN-Rail mounted Meanwell DRC-100A 12Vdc UPS modules with one 18Ah battery each. This UPS runs for several hours, keeping my surveillance cameras and (TP-link Omada) Mesh WiFi working during power outages.

Mains power on our farm is quite unstable and prone to outages while cell phone coverage is just as bad, which is why keeping a working communications and surveillance system is so critical.

I used two 12V batteries in series as I'm using it to power 6 cameras with a 13Watt/camera requirement when IR lights are on at night time plus a WiFi AP, so the 80W@12Vdc limit would not have been enough. I used two 12V UPS modules instead of one 24V module to keep batteries balanced without risking battery overcharge or the need of a balancing circuit.

I love that it is DIN-Rail mountable like the Meanwell UPS modules, keeping the electrical box orderly and will make module replacement a breeze.

I have already bought the 4-port versions and more Meanwell modules to keep remote PtP AP nodes powered as to maintain connectivity during power outages in our farm.

Great switch for a camera system with UPS function

My home camera system was powered by POE by an 54V adapter from wall (230V AC). That meant when the power went out the cameras stopped immediatelly. So it would be easy for a robber to just turn off the main switch from street and operate without being recorded. Therefore I was looking for a UPS solution. Easy way would be to just buy some 230V AC UPS that would convert the UPS supplied AC to DC using an adapter. During power outages it would mead converting the 12 V DC battery power to 230 V AC by the UPS just to be converted to 54V DC by the adapter. Such conversions are about 90 % efficient with good converters. So with the two conversions I would be loosing at least 20 % battery capacity. Therefore I went for a solution with a DC UPS (MeanWell DR-UPS20) with 2 x 12V DC VRLA 20 Ah batteries in series (acting as one 24V 20Ah battery = 480 Wh, enough for several hours as each camera only draws between 5 and 10 W based on IR illumination settings). Such a solution does not require the conversion to AC during power outage as it draws 24V directly from the batteries (actually, it is more like 27,6V with fully charged battery). During normal operation it is powered by an industrial AC to DC converter Even though internal conversion - DC to DC boost is not 100% efficient, I believe it is far more efficient than the two conversions involving both DC - AC - DC. So this switch, which can handle broader input voltage is great for such a solution. I could just plug it to the UPS system without needing to stabilize the power and it works flawlessly. I only wish they would aso have a cheaper version without the SFP ports, which I dont use. My next step will be to buy a POE extractor, so that I can power my WiFi router form PoE (it is located in another room), so that internet connection and WiFi is available during local power outages, so that I can check my cameras from smartphone or tablet (local access would work also without internet connection).

Regarding the purchase - I bought from EU site and the item was shipped from China. Therefore I had to pay duties, taxes and fees for processing (about 65 _). Mentioning the FedEx shipping, it was quite fast, delivered in about 10 days.

We do have warehouse in Germany, next time we will ship from there. Thank you for your business.

It works in Industrial Automation environment

We went with this for the option to add POE cameras to an industrial machine. I'm not sure about the person who left a review claiming an issue with it not working for their AB equipment??? Perhaps it's an AB issue or some other problem the user had with his/her setup? We have one of the network ports of a Beckhoff Industrial PC connected to this switch and it works fine. I've also connected a Rexroth servo drive directly to the switch with no issues.
If using this switch in an industrial setting, such as in an automation application, I recommend the switch be powered via it's own dedicated/isolated 48V PSU. We had one powered by the same PSU as a 48VDC servo motor, and it ended up damaging the switch during deceleration of the servo motor.

ONE STAR Review unwarranted. NOT LINO issue. OUTSTANDING Products!!

You can use a SFP Ethernet adapter! This is a very solid device. The review about automation of 1 STAR is their fault. NOT LINOVISION! This is why you call or ask questions. Never assume! They have managed versions too. Goto their very infomative site. Only recommendation to LINO V is to have a delineation line between products on the website. OUTSTANDING COMPANY! If using for POE Cameras. Be sure to total the power needed based on 12v/24v/48v to be sure you have enough. Very versatile!

I purchased direct and just found out they sell in Amazon. I could get faster via Prime so Im thrilled!!

One of the most supportive companies that I work with for CCTV, Solar, mobile applications.
